Turku University of Applied Sciences TUAS

Turun ammattikorkeakoulu Oy (Turku University of Applied Sciences TUAS) is a multidisciplinary educational community of around 9000 students and 700 staff members. It is located in Southwest Finland but nowadays we operate globally in various development activities. It offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in the faculties of Business, ICT and Life Sciences; Arts Academy; Technology, Environment and Business; Health and Well‐being. All the faculties are multidisciplinary.

The faculty responsible for this project is the Faculty of Health on Well‐being, and it’s research group New Ways of  promoting Performance, which focuses on studying, evaluating and developing the human performance at different levels and areas of activity. The study themes include promoting exercise and sports and the active way of life of children,  changes in work and working life and well-being at work, as well as the interaction between human activity and the environment from the perspectives of accessibility and usability.

The faculty´s degree programmes host about 2,300 students under the supervision of almost 200 experts. The faculty responds quickly to employers’ education and development needs. Thousands of social and health care professionals develop their competence through the continuing education.

TUAS is investing in pedagogical modernization of higher education. It develops and implements multi-field innovation pedagogy with focus on Research, Development and Innovation (RDI), flexible curricula, entrepreneurship and internationality. When students actively participate in applied RDI activities during their studies, it increases their readiness to operate successfully in working life. TUAS has successfully managed the overall coordination of hundreds of projects including several Erasmus+ projects. TUAS is also an active partner in many international networks of universities and other training organizations and it has great possibilities to distribute knowledge and skills gained through projects.
