Leena Tamminen-Peter, PhD is an Occupational Physiotherapist and teacher of Nursing Science. As a Specialized Research Scientist at Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, she has worked for over three decades in ergonomics and prevention MSDs, participating in several intervention studies in the health care sector and developed the teaching of ergonomics in social and health care education.
She is the author of the Finnish guide book for Patient Handling and the Teacher’s Manual. As a member of the writing group she contributed to ISO Technical Report 12296 “Manual handling of people in the health care sector”. She was leading the development group of the ergonomic teaching scheme of patient-handling in health care education, which is published as the Ergonomic patient handling card® -scheme.
