SAPHA course and Handbook – soon available!

RENE project has reached its last half-year period and the project outcomes are reaching the final form.

Over the lifespan of RENE, the SAPHA course (about patient handling in safe and rehabilitating way) has been piloted with many students. First in national settings with undergraduate students, and then finally in the international environment during the intensive week in Setubal, Portugal, with interdisciplinary participants. We have made many modifications to improve the contents and structure according to the students’ feedback and the process evaluation. We wish the final product serves both health care students and educators of several disciplines related to health care. We will upload the SAPHA course in Moodle format (.zip) in RENE webpages; for the ones not using Moodle, the detailed instructions of utilizing SAPHA and the SAPHA course materials. The RENE team is currently finalizing the plans for delivering the SAPHA course available for everyone. Follow our webpages, the SAPHA course will be available here during the spring!

Another main result of the RENE project is the Handbook, which will contain details on how to implement the SAPHA course. The Handbook contents are ready, and its publication is in process. We will release the Handbook in the RENE webpages with open access principles, so every education institution can familiarize with SAPHA pedagogical principles, the course structure and evaluation.

In the previous blog post about the IEA conference 2021 we gave a glance on our analysis of patient handling education in Europe. The analysis is based on a survey we conducted in RENE partner countries. The full paper about the survey will soon be published in the International Journal of Occupational Medicine and Environmental Health. Stay tuned, we will soon inform you about this study!
